The Maldives School Tour by David

One time on a school tour we went to the Maldives. It was great! We even got to stay there for a few weeks. On the day we took flight we were not told where we were going so it was a surprise. When we got to the airport we were surprised. It took us a day to get there which was ok. When we got to the island we had to travel by boat so by the time we got there the day had ended. So then we had to sleep in the huts that were there. There were only 4 people in a hut which was ok. Two of us had to be in a room (again ok) and we had bunk beds. I was on the bottom and Gavin was on the top bunk (ok again). In the morning we got up and we were up early so we got breakfast early. We then went swimming and there were slides going down to the water so it was cool. When everyone was up we all were swimming in the water, then we dried off and  Mr Larke said that there were teams. We could get points for our team for having the tidiest room and collecting stuff like seashells and clams and winning games. But there were points taken away from us if we were stealing stuff or  going into other peoples rooms to mess it up which is ok for me. So then we went scuba diving and we found some cool stuff. First I found a crab shell and then a cool rock. Then we went up to have lunch. Lunch was chicken wings and chips and dessert was ice cream, we could have any flavour with any sauce. I picked chocolate ice cream and green sauce. So then we played hide and seek. While I was swimming earlier I noticed that you can hide under the path and still breathe. I showed Gav it was great and then we won :) A big fat 15 points. We played some more in the water and found a small island not that far off. So I went there and found African penguins!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!! I stayed there for a while adoring every penguin so much. Then I left and found some more stuff, a pearl, wait a pearl that’s about 100 points. well why not I brought it up and Mr Larke said that's worth 1,000 points!!! Oh yea an even bigger fatter 1,000 points!!! We had won until someone on the other team found another pearl and got 1000 points :( Soon it was dinner and we had pizza, cheese or ham and pineapple. Then we went back to our room for another night. At 9;30 I crept out of the room and went to the island. To my surprise there were fairy penguins!!! They were so small I could take one back in a bag but I didn't ,one because they live here and I shouldn’t disturb them and two because I didn't bring a bag. So I went scuba diving for a while then went to bed. I woke up  when I should’ve. We had breakfast which was toast with anything you spread on toast. I just had honey. Then we were told the score we were in the lead by 25 points. So we went swimming and then I saw a weird thing, a sunken ship with locks, keys and that kinda stuff. Which is a good thing and a bad thing, the good thing was that we have stuff to make a lock but the bad thing was that it was under water. So I needed tools. I started searching underwater and discovered that some of the cargo was in the bottom of the ship. I started looking there and then found what I needed, a screwdriver. Then I unlocked one of the giant colored boxes. Stuff in cardboard boxes came out. I brought a few out then asked Gav if he could help. He said yes. I told him to stand on the path and get the boxes. Ok said Gavin. We got everything we needed so then we built our lock. It worked really well and all for free. Then Gav said that we should dip some of the parts to cover them in mud and put some seaweed on them and then see how many points we get. I thought it was a good idea, it was. Mr Larke gave us 100 points for each piece which meant by then we got 25,000 points so then we thought that we should do the whole process again. We got lots more, it was great!!! Soon by surprise we had to go home again.  I was happy to return home but I was sad to go I miss the place and I wish I could go there again :_(

The Trip of a Lifetime

7 weeks into lockdown and I’m slowly starting to crack up. It’s been a difficult time for everyone but with the hope we’ll get there!  Recently we found out from LEO Varadkar that restrictions will slowly be lifting from 18th of May, and with optimism we will eventually be allowed to travel by air. My family and I were meant to be going to be going on holidays in September but due to Covid-19 it’s looking highly doubtful that we won’t be visiting Spain any time soon! I’m here in my sunroom starring into space and all of a sudden out of the blue mom goes all holidays are cancelled  ‘’ my heart crumbles into a million peaces ..... I love going on holidays and now we can’t go . . . . What else is quarantine going to take away! I don’t hear much more of mom’s rambling on about after she drops that bomb. .   UNTIL . . . she says ‘’....  So when we can eventually go travel by air I was thinking, you and Mia could pick a destination for our next holiday because this will be THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME! ! ! ‘’ . So without a single thought, Mia and I get straight to it . . . searching and searching for hours on end until . . . we found our destination! We’re going to Hawai’i! ! !  It’s going to be a big family holiday, like one we never done before. Mia has made a list of all the activities we’ll be doing . . . . which includes ; paddle boarding , surfing , Doors of helicopter tour , and also visit Diamond head  in Honolulu where ‘ Hawaii five o’ series . We also want to visit O’ Ahun Island where ‘Magnum P.I is filmed.  Mia and I have decided that we will travel by plane to Hawaii with our family. We have found really nice hotel that is located in Honolulu so we will be central to all of our activities. The hotel is called ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. It is a 4 star hotel. I absolutely cannot wait until quarantine is all over and we can finally go on this TRIP OF A LIFE TIME!
